The United Arab Emirates businesswoman Hassa Jamal Al-Ghurair, relies on ARRAM to manage the possible project of a sugar factory in Merida, with an investment of 400 million euros.

The plant would occupy an area of 59.3 hectares in the industrial estate of Expacio Mérida and its processing capacity could reach 5.4 million tons of sugar beet per year generating 200 direct jobs.

The United Arab Emirates businesswoman Hassa Jamal Al-Ghurair, daughter of Jamal Majid Al-Ghurair, founder and CEO of Al-Khaleej Sugar, the largest sugar factory in the world, which is located in Dubai, is studying the construction of a factory to produce sugar beet in the vicinity of the city of Merida. For this reason, ARRAM Consultores have been commissioned with the administrative processing to obtain the appropriate permissions, beginning with the integrated environmental authorisation application published in the Official Journal of Extremadura (DOE).

Al-Khaleej Sugar is the largest sugar manufacturer in the world, which is located in Dubai and each year produces more than 1.5 million tonnes of sugar. Al Khaleej Sugar wants to expand its business in Europe and is looking at two countries where to install itself. One of them is Spain; the other, United Kingdom. The Spanish option is favoured because the area where it would be located is the Expacio Merida industrial development park, adjacent to the A-66 and about five kilometres from the capital of Extremadura. A strategic location.
